Message from the District Lay Leader

School has started, fall is just around the corner, and you know what that means!  Charge Conferences are just around the corner.  This year they will be Church Conferences as our District Superintendent comes and shares with you the Conference Strategic Plan.  I trust by now you have at least heard we have one and have seen the handout for it.  (If not, go to www.OKUMC.org and look for "strategic plan.")  

Please be in prayer as to what God wants your local church to be doing to "make disciples of Christ to transform the world."

We all have gifts and talents to share with the world.  If you feel God calling you to work beyond your local church, please consider Lay Speaking School.  It will be November 21 & 22, 2008 at Crosspoint.  The Basic Course and an Advanced Course (Preaching for Response) will be taught.  Lay Speakers do much more than fill pulpits when preachers are gone.  They provide the leadership for our District and Conference.  They design, implement, and lead ministries.  So if you feel God calling you to the next step, please come!
