ARDMORE DISTRICT LAY SPEAKING ACADEMY Cross Point Camp - Kingston, OK November 21 - 22, 2008 Fee: $55.00 BASIC COURSE - This course is designed to help you become more skilled in your role as a leader in serving God in your church and community. It provides opportunities to increase your knowledge of service as a lay speaker in the areas of leading, caring and communication. The basic course is a requirement for Lay Speaker certification. ADVANCED COURSE - This course will further guide you in your journey as a lay speaker. It will assist you in developing your skills and help you become more competent in other areas such as Sunday school leadership, assisting with Sunday morning and evening worship and participating in local civic groups in the larger community.***You will be responsible for purchasing your own curriculum: All books are available at Cokesbury - www.cokesbury.com or you can call the OKC store at 405-858-5195. Please read materials before this event Registration will start at 5:30 with dinner and fellowship at 6:00 p.m., Friday, November 21 at the Cross Point Dining Hall. You will receive your cabin assignments during registration. You will need to bring: Bible, notebook, pens, flashlight, bedding, towel, wash cloth, soap, other toiletries as needed, and other items the weather may require. There will be dinner provided Friday evening, breakfast and lunch only on Saturday. Complete the registration form on the reverse side of this page, and mail it with your payment to the Ardmore District, UMC by November 10, 2008.
